So Rich came up w/ these recipe cards as a great little idea to help people in their artistic processes. He asked me to shoot them for him for the Indicate Design Groupe site. I’m not sure if Rich will use these exact photos or not but the cards are super fresh and people need to know about them. Here are his own words on what they are about.

The purpose of these cards is to set the mind free of convention. The brain, over time, creates pathways. Sometimes , however we want new path ways to inspire new thoughts or processes. The presence of novelty and newness , allows dopamine to flow in the brain. The novelty cooks up fresh, new pathways, a recipe for creativity. – Rich Hansen, Indicate Design Groupe

These are my two pieces, the first one was just a frame I found that was originally some nasty fake brass thing so I painted it flat black. I sketched out the letters on the wall and went to work, finished it by hanging the frame around it. It was fun have sometime to do hand lettering, I still had to rush a little cause we were on the clock for getting the install done….but fun none the less.
This is a horrible shot of the piece, but its the only one decent one I have. The piece sold (Score!) and the buyer picked it up before I could get a decent shot of it. The piece is 6ft x 4ft , I textured and primed the canvas a greyish flat black then painted the hand in a gloss black exterior oil. I wanted to have nice high contrast monochromatic piece for the show, that would keep with the all black theme. I really was happy with the outcome of it and the buyer commissioned me to paint 2 more!
This was something quick and fun to do Wonway and Whooligan hit me up to do it. I really liked the simplicity of it and got to use a photo I took recently @ 16th & Mission.
